Shaping the Future at the 2025 '6G Global Summit' in Hong Kong

The 6G Global Summit 2025 took place on 8 and 9 May in Hong Kong, marking its debut in the Asia Pacific region. Hosted by the Office of the Communications Authority (OFCA), the event was held at the Hopewell Hotel and delivered in a hybrid format, bringing together over 700 participants both in person and online.

Now in its fourth edition, the Summit has grown into one of the most significant global platforms for shaping the future of sixth-generation mobile communications. Following earlier editions in Bahrain and the United Kingdom, this year’s event attracted delegates from more than 80 countries and economies, including senior figures from regulatory bodies, international organisations, telecom operators, global corporations, academic institutions and research communities.

The programme featured keynote speeches and panel discussions focused on the key priorities that will define the development of 6G. Topics included standardisation efforts, technological advancements, spectrum considerations, sustainable network design, and emerging applications and use cases. A strong emphasis was also placed on the strategic importance of the Asia Pacific region and the need for global collaboration to realise a truly intelligent and inclusive network of networks.

The Summit served not only as a platform for technical exchange but also as a forum for relationship building. On the evening of 8 May, the Communications Association of Hong Kong hosted a networking reception that allowed participants to connect in a more informal setting and explore potential partnerships.

This year’s event also provided Hong Kong with an opportunity to highlight its role as a regional telecommunications hub. It reinforced the city’s commitment to future network development and its ambition to play a leading role in the global 6G landscape.

Originally launched as a virtual event in 2022 by Forum Global, the 6G Global Summit has quickly established itself as a key milestone in the 6G calendar. With each edition, it continues to grow in influence, helping to shape the dialogue and direction of next-generation connectivity.

Recordings from the Summit are available in the playlist below, presented in four parts across the two days. The full agenda can be found on the official website.
